Llantwit Major coastal path sees great improvement
06 December 2016
Cllr Gwyn John, Vale Council colleagues, and a representative of Natural Resources Wales were in Llantwit Major this week to sign off completion of the latest section of the Wales Coastal Path to be upgraded.
Work to the path at Dimhole, west of Llantwit Major Beach, was completed in October following a £33,500 investment. The path, which was previously very uneven and ran alongside a high cliff edge, has been set back to a safe distance and its surface greatly improved.
Cllr John said: “With some of the nation’s finest coastline here in the Vale, the Council is determined to enable more people to experience it.
“The new route and surface will open up this section of the coastal path to more people than ever and allow both residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to walk one of the nicest sections of the Heritage Coast.”
The Wales Coast Path has proved popular with visitors since opening in 2012 and the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales work in partnership to improve and maintain it.
