Neighbourhood Watch joins forces with Vale of Glamorgan Fire and Security Ltd

22 December 2016

The significant role played by Neighbourhood Watch schemes across the Vale of Glamorgan was highlighted recently, when the Vale’s Neighbourhood Watch Committee negotiated a partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Fire and Security Ltd.

Following the agreement, and the formal launch of the scheme on 30 November, members of the public (that are members of a registered Neighbourhood Watch) have been entitled to a 10% discount when using the services of Vale of Glamorgan Fire and Security Ltd.

The Vale of Glamorgan Fire and Security Ltd cover a range of services, including: intruder alarms; CCTV; fire alarms; smoke and heat alarms; emergency lighting; access control and intercoms; security lighting; annual servicing and maintenance.

Neighbourhood Watch is one of the biggest and most successful crime prevention initiatives, and the largest voluntary organisation in the country. Statistically, you are four times less likely to be burgled if you are a member of a Watch scheme.

For Vale Neighbourhood Watch members wishing to access these services, contact must be made with Vale of Glamorgan Fire and Security Ltd requesting them to undertake a security check at their property.

David Ellis, Chairman of Neighbourhood Watch, said: “I am pleased with this partnership, and it is hoped that this will provide an incentive for current members of Neighbourhood Watch groups to stay within their registered watch, raise the awareness of the work of Neighbourhood Watch, and also increase the security of homes across the Vale of Glamorgan.”

Andrew Nash, Vale of Glamorgan Fire & Security said: “It is great to be involved in crime prevention like this, and I am keen to work with members of community to increase their security.”

Neighbourhood Watch brings communities together to tackle problems and encourages a sense of security amongst neighbours.  Knowing that people are keeping an eye on each other's property gives reassurance, particularly for those who feel vulnerable.
