Bend it like Bale in the Vale
27 July 2016
Jenner Park hosted the annual Vale of Glamorgan girl’s primary football festival recently, and saw a range of schools compete for local bragging-rights.
Girl's Football dribblingOrganised by Vale Ladies and Girls FC, in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Sports Development team, the festival formed part of the Dragon Sport programme, which liaises with local schools with the aim of increasing sports participation in 7-11 year olds. The festival sought to provide the opportunity for girls to participate in football in a fun and enjoyable environment.
One hundred pupils from across the vale attended the festival, with all schools playing a maximum of 6 matches. Sully primary school, Ysgol Sant Baruc, St. Alberts, Ysgol Lol Morganwg and Dinas Powys primary school all displayed some fantastic ball skills and team work, inspired by the recent success of the men’s national team in France.
