Glowing Report for Primary School

Dinas Powys Primary School has been highly praised for its performance in its recent Estyn Inspection.
The school’s prospects for improvement were rated as excellent, the highest available, with the report highlighting many strengths of the school, including the provision of effective learning experiences, good teaching, an excellent learning environment and excellent leadership.
In particular, the current performance was commended with pupils having a high standard of wellbeing, a broad curriculum of stimulating topics and benefitting from a very rich learning environment.
With regards to prospects for the school’s improvement, the headteacher Julie Thompson, was recognised for setting out and promoting a clear vision for the school and making notable progress to ensure equality of provision in a relatively short period of time.
The senior leadership team were also identified as a playing a significant role in promoting a professional learning culture throughout the school and using assessment data effectively, to tailor the school’s provision to meet the needs of all children.
Headteacher Julie Thompson said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed to have received such a fantastic Estyn report.
“The school was only amalgamated in January 2015 and we have achieved so much in that time. I am delighted with the report, which recognises the vision we have created and the hard work of all the school community.”
