Fairies Descend upon Cowbridge Library
27 June 2016
Cowbridge Library recently hosted a ‘Midsummer Fairy Evening’, where children enjoyed an evening of magical storytelling and creative crafts.
The ‘bright, welcoming and lively space’ of Cowbridge Library was made even brighter, as 20 children aged between three and nine made fairy castles, peg fairies, and even a set of their own wings on which they could fly home following the event.
The evening was part of a series of events that have run throughout the year. These have included a Roald Dahl Night, a Harry Potter Night and an Alice in Wonderland Evening.
Lis Burnett, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Education, said: ‘The aim of these events is to encourage use of the library, highlight different areas of stock and foster a love of reading. We are extremely grateful to the staff of Cowbridge Library and to all of their volunteers who help host such events.’
Library staff are now busy planning activities for the Summer Reading Challenge, which begins on Saturday 16 July. The theme for this year is The Big Friendly Read, which is inspired by the books of Roald Dahl.
