Forté Project is back to unearth promising artists
11 November 2016
Arts Connect – a partnership between local authorities across the Vale of Glamorgan, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend – have recently successfully secured funding from the Arts Council Wales to re-launch the Forté Project.
Now in its second year, the Forté Project will once again take on ten emerging music artists from across the Arts Connect regions, with the application process now open to individual song writers, duos and bands.
With the aim of uncovering and supporting the next bright talents emerging in South Wales, the project has, since its inception, successfully taken 10 artists on 10 truly inspiring journeys.
The project focuses on key creative and career development support areas that further improve the chances of successful and long-term professional careers for budding musicians. It does this by providing song-writing workshops, industry seminars, rehearsal space, recording sessions and a range of unique live opportunities throughout the year.
The ten chosen artists will have specially selected industry mentors to help guide them throughout the duration of the Forté Project.
To be eligible for this opportunity, artists must be aged 16-25, must live in one of the Arts Connect regions, and have a real passion and enthusiasm to further their music potential. For those applying as part of a band, at least half of the members must meet the aforementioned requirements.
The Forté Project is brought to you by the minds behind the critically-acclaimed project, Young Promoters Network, and in co-ordination with SONIG Youth Music, Arts Connect and Arts Council Wales.
Past project participants benefitted hugely from the experience: electronic act LUK stepped into the studio for the first time, Alex Stacey built up his song-writing repertoire in London alongside Tim Deal, whilst HVNTER received airplay on BBC Radio 1.
The application form is available at www.forteproject.co.uk, with completed applications needing to be returned, via email, before the deadline on Sunday 13 November at 11.59.
