Snow Business ready to deliver a festive flurry to Barry
November 25 2016
FILM and television effects company Snow Business have moved into Barry’s Ice Central to turn the venue into a frosty festive fun zone.
Part of Barry’s Central Park, adjacent to the Town Hall, is being transformation into a magical winter world, featuring an ice rink, live music and seasonal food and drink.
IMG_0069To help create the environment, Snow Business will deploy techniques used on small and big screen productions to give it an authentic frozen feel.“We are world leaders in snow and winter effects,” said Snow Business spokesperson Kate Tyler.
“We’ve worked on everything from Harry Potter to Coronation Street. We did a massive snow scene for James Bond film The Day After Tomorrow and worked on the opening sequence of Gladiator.
“We also do things for live events like Glastonbury and the Eden Project, decorate shop windows and have been going for more than 30 years.
“Ice Central will of course be on a smaller scale to those events, but we are excited about the challenge of bringing what could be the year’s first sprinkling of snow to Barry.
“At Ice Central there will be 5ft snowmen for people to have their picture taken with, a snow machine producing dry falling snow, ice-cube seats and snow dusted treetops.
“In all we will create 100 kilos of snow, made from recycled paper and it will take around 10 hours to get everything sorted.
”Ice Central’s grand opening is at 5pm on Saturday, part of the Christmas lights switch-on celebrations.
It will be open for nine days and is the centrepiece of the Vale Council’s winter events programme for 2016.
There will be late night events on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays.
Prices start from £3 and a family ticket will be available for £10.
