Christmas is fast approaching and The Mayor would like to spread the joy and festive cheer by asking Vale of Glamorgan schools to get creative and design their own Christmas cards.


Each child who wishes to take part should design one Christmas card.


The winners of each category will be used to create a Christmas card collection. Money raised by selling the Christmas cards will go to the Mayor’s Charities: 


How to Enter:

Your entry can be a photograph, a drawing, a cartoon, a picture – we are open to all ideas. It would be great to have a link to The Mayors Charities, The Penarth and District Lesotho Trust and the Llandough Hospital Orchard Project - and of course Christmas! 


We need an image we can use on a Christmas card, it should be:

  • Landscape (10 x 15cm)
  • Portrait (15 x 10cm) 
  • Square (up to 14cm square)

Send your design in to us by email or in the post. Please ensure you give us your name and address with your entry. (You must live within the Vale of Glamorgan).


You can supply your entry to us by as PDF, JPEG, Tiff, EPS – needs to be 300dpi at the size of the card.

There are 6 categories and a winner will be chosen from each one: 

  • Nursery
  • Reception 
  • Years 1 – 3
  • Years 4 – 6 
  • Years 7 – 9 
  • Years 10 - 12


If we pick your design to use as part of His Worship the Mayor’s Official 2016 Christmas card collection, you and your family will be invited to the Mayor’s Parlour to receive a framed image of your entry. The overall winner will receive an additional prize of 10 packs of cards.

Please Note: By submitting your entry to The Mayor’s Office you are agreeing to His Worship the Mayor of The Vale of Glamorgan using the picture in his 2016 Christmas card collection. We will use this to raise funds for Mayors Charities: The Penarth and District Lesotho Trust and The Llandough Hospital Orchard Project.  It is our decision whether to use any artwork and we may select more than one entry. We will accept entries from the Vale of Glamorgan only.Competition Rules1. Entries to this competition will be accepted via email and post.2. The prize for one winner consists of a framed print of the card. There is no cash alternative. Entry to the competition is restricted to one entry per person.3. Automated entries, bulk entries or third party entries will be disqualified.4. Competition is open to children and young adults resident in the Vale of Glamorgan only. Written permission of their parents or guardian will be required to confirm acceptance of the prize and agreement to post-promotion publicity.5. The winner(s) will be chosen by the Mayors judging team.6. The winner will be contacted via email or post. The winner's name will be displayed on our website and on the cards when printed. 7.
