Art Central Gallery celebrates its tenth anniversary in November
07 September 2016
Art Central Gallery, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s prestigious art gallery, is celebrating its tenth anniversary in November 2016. The gallery opened in November 2006, with its inaugural ‘Open’ exhibition, and is pleased to announce that they will be accepting art submissions to be exhibited during its anniversary Open exhibition event.
New Art Central LogoThe celebratory exhibition will be open to the public, and will run between 10.00am – 4.00pm on Monday 7 November 2016, with the work remaining on show until Saturday 14 January 2017.
Art Central Gallery welcomes submissions from artists working with all types of visual and performance art media. This may include works by painters, photographers, craftspeople, designers, film makers, performance artists and others. Art Central would particularly like to hear from you if you are living and working in the Vale of Glamorgan, but this is not essential or exclusive.
To make the event inclusive, Art Central Gallery is aiming to accommodate at least one piece of art from each submission. They are looking for original art works that show the artist’s unique style and interests: pieces that are exciting, unusual, detailed, challenging and intriguing. These will then be displayed in the beautiful, contemporary gallery setting at Art Central Gallery.
The submission fee is £10.00 for up to three images. There will be a panel which will help curate the exhibition from the submissions received. Access to the exhibition will be free during the opening times from November to January.
The gallery, as part of the Town Hall complex, is on Barry’s King Square, and will be celebrating alongside Barry County Library, who will also be marking this significant celebration. The celebrations also mark the 110th anniversary of the Town Hall itself.
Councillor Lis Burnett, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Education, said: “We have been fortunate enough to enjoy exhibitions at Art Central Gallery for nearly ten years now, and this coming exhibition will celebrate its longstanding dedication to arts and culture by asking for unique submissions. I look forward to seeing these on my visit to the gallery.”
Art Central will accept entries up until 12:00pm on Monday 3 October 2016. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for an application form, and visit Art Central for more information.
