First look at proposal for St Paul’s Church
13 April 2017
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has announced that Newydd Housing Association has been selected as its preferred bidder to undertake the development of the St Paul’s Church site in Penarth.
Newydd’s proposed scheme is a 300 square metre ground floor community facility and a development of affordable homes.
The ambitious proposal, the first image of which has been released today, aims to deliver a sustainable mixed-use development that retains the façade of the church, thereby respecting the local sense of place.
Paul Roberts, Newydd’s Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the Council’s preferred bidder and are planning to hold a consultation event to explore ideas for the use of the ground floor community facility”.
A planning application for the scheme is expected in due course. This will be subject to the scrutiny of the Council’s planning committee before any final decision on the future of the site is taken.
