The Vale’s first BIG Volunteering Fayre is a resounding success

20 January 2017

Over 300 people descended upon the Memo Art Centre in Barry on Wednesday 18th January 2017 and were welcomed by 56 volunteering providers who were all looking to raise their profile and recruit volunteers.

Attendees were spoilt for choice at Glamorgan Voluntary Services’ (GVS) BIG Volunteering Fayre which showcased the many opportunities that are available in the community. The BIG Volunteering Fayre highlighted the diversity, passion and strength of the voluntary sector as well as being a great vehicle for people to sign up for voluntary work and embark on a new adventure.  GVS is particularly grateful to Asda Barry for providing the refreshments on the day which were well received by all attendees. GVS hope to run this event annually, subject to available funding.

Kath Fisher, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice Charity said: “We were delighted to be invited to the BIG Volunteering Fayre by GVS and had a fantastic day seeing well over 40 individuals with a 25% sign up. It has been well worth us coming today and thank you for the opportunity.”
