Nine Vale organisations awarded more than £11,000 from Community Chest funding panel

Sporting groups across the Vale of Glamorgan were thrilled to be awarded a share of £11,267 at the second round of the Community Chest funding panel.

 Barry Cricket club

The Community Chest scheme is funded by Sport Wales and managed by the Vale Council’s Sports & Play Development Team.



Holton Road Association Football Club and Caerau Vale Trampoline Club were among the nine awarded, and will use the money to develop their coaching workforce.



Penarth Allstars netball club also received a share and will spend the money on creating a new Under 17 section. They are also looking to send their volunteers on coach training and umpire courses.



Barry Athletic Cricket club will look to further develop their All Stars programme which offers cricket opportunities to children aged 5 – 8 years, and cycling club, Wenvoe Wheelers, will purchase indoor turbo trainers and organise training courses for volunteers.



Penarth & Dinas Powys & District Badminton Club – Junior Section will use their share to funding for hall hire and equipment.



 Knap lifeguard team

The teams at Rhoose Boxing club and Colcot Sports Amateur Boxing Club will use their funding to send a coach on a training course and will purchase equipment for other members.



Rhondda (Cold Knap) Lifeguard club will buy new equipment which will allow them to purchase ski paddling for their junior members. 



Most organisations, including non – sporting ones will be eligible to apply for funding, as long as they can demonstrate they can meet the criteria.



The next Community Chest panel meeting will take place on Thursday 14 September. The deadline date for completed applications to be submitted is Thursday August 31.
