Rural communities to flourish in the Vale of Glamorgan

19 June 2017

Funding of up to £1, 000 could be available for innovative Vale of Glamorgan initiatives that help build community spirit in their area.

Creative-Rural-Communities-logoIn a bid to help rural communities across the Vale, the Council’s Creative Rural Communities (CRC) team is set to launch a pilot project enabling such communities to get together and share their thoughts on building community spirit.

With town and community councils, village hall associations and resident associations urged to learn from each other’s experiences, the scheme will offer funding for local groups to trial new innovative initiatives that regularly bring communities together.

The CRC team will provide support, and offer guidance, throughout the project, and enable your group to develop your idea, and forge a sustainable future.

There have been some great examples of similar initiatives in the past, such as Llancarfan’s Community Cinema, which is run by volunteers and has proved to be a great way of bringing communities together.

Treoes’ Community Allotments Project has engaged their community by sharing tips on growing food, whilst Peterson Super Ely’s monthly village market and annual pantomime bring residents together throughout the year.

If you have a similar idea that you believe could bring a rural community together, get in touch with the CRC team to discuss your thoughts by calling 01446 704226 or by e-mailing create@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
