Changes to Stray Dog Services

Unfortunately, Croft Rescue Kennels are no longer able to provide kennelling for stray dogs or undertake out-of-hour collections.

Whilst a contract with a new service provider is being arranged, Cardiff Dogs Home have offered their services to accept strays.

Stray-dog

During working hours there should be no impact to the services and our Dog Warden will still be the first port of call. The main difference will be that the dogs will be held at Cardiff Dogs Home:

Out of Hours

Unfortunately, Cardiff Dogs Home do not provide an out-of-hours collection service, so, in the first instance, members of the public who have found a stray dog should:

  • Keep care of the dog overnight/weekend until an Animal Warden is available to collect;

  • Take the dog to Cardiff Dogs Home where there is a 24-hour reception centre that accepts strays.

However, as an interim measure for the rest of this week only, Croft will undertake out-of-hours collections. Nevertheless, these will ONLY take place under the following circumstances:

  • When the customer is not comfortable keeping the dog overnight, and is not able to take it to Cardiff Dogs Home;

  • If the dog displays any aggressive/agitated behaviour that makes the customer uncomfortable/nervous in keeping the dog overnight or transporting it to Cardiff Dogs Home.
