Can you help provide new activities for families in the Vale?

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Creative Rural Communities team are looking to trial new family activities in rural Vale.

The activities can range from cooking, sports, music and drama and arts and crafts.

CRC would like to hear from activity providers who would be interested in providing these types of activities in your local community.

In a different approach to delivering children’s activities, families will be able to spend quality time together away from all demands of home life.

Parents can also spend time on their own apart from their children.

The activities will take place in four communities across the Vale, including St Athan, Wenvoe, Rhoose and Ystradowen.

This project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities– Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020 which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the Welsh Government and the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

"We have listened to feedback from residents at various community engagement events.  Parents have said there are not enough activities for school age children in rural communities.  Where there were activities, parents were at a loss of what to do in that hour during their children’s activities.

"We want to work with activity providers to extend their existing offer to provide activities with parents and school aged children together or side by side."

 - Cllr Jonathan Bird, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning.

The team will be on hand to provide full support to activity providers.
