Supported by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, a mile walk in women’s shoes will take place as part of the White Ribbon Campaign UK, which is a global movement to put a stop to male violence against women and girls.

The event will begin in Cardiff Castle on Friday 20 October at 10am, and the team are asking for donation of shoes, preferably size eight and above.

The mile walk began after fourteen men who worked for Cadwyn Housing Association, walked along Newport Road in high heels, while carrying banners in support of ending domestic abuse.

“The Vale of Glamorgan Council is proud to support this unusual but important event, which is a great way to raise awareness of violence against women. I hope as many people as possible can take part in the walk, and pledge their support for the campaign.” -

Vale of Glamorgan Cabinet Member for Social Care, Health and Leisure, Cllr Gordon Kemp.

Men are advised to wear their usual clothing, and shoes are limited, especially sizes 10 and above. Shoes will be available to borrow on the day for just a £2 donation.
