Named as the youngest hub in Wales, the Vale Hub, funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, has been running for less than year, and is part of the Seren Network.

Seren is a network for 11 regional hubs, which work as partnerships between secondary schools and colleges, supported by local government, Welsh Government and leading universities.

Pupils are invited to the event at the Vale Hotel in Hensol on Wednesday 25 October, and the programme includes Wellbeing sessions on fear and courage, as well as talks from current University students.

The programme was first launched in 2013, when Paul Murphy MP, the former Secretary of State for Wales, was appointed to be the Welsh Government’s Oxbridge Ambassador and worked on improving the fall in Welsh applications and admissions to Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

The report was presented to Wales’ Education Minister, Huw Lewis, and his call for a “national network of partnership hubs” was approved by the Welsh government in 2014.
