Crafts on the coast festival returns to Dunraven bay for a second year
OVER 30 stalls are set to feature as part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council-supported Crafts on the Coast Festival next weekend.
Coastal Community Arts, a group made up of four artists and teachers based in Ogmore-by-Sea, will stage the event at Dunraven Bay in Southerndown between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, September 9.
After last year’s inaugural festival, this event promises to be bigger and better, with stalls selling the likes of stained glass, chalk paintings and textiles.

There will also be craft demonstrations, storytelling, musical entertainment and coffee and cake making.
Crafts in Focus workshops will take place in the weeks before and after the festival, offering the opportunity to develop skills in a particular area.
The festival has received funding from the Vale Council’s Event Grant Scheme, set up to help new and innovative events become established and grow.
The Council is also planning to set up a craft network in the Vale, offering artists the opportunity to find such things as places to work, opportunities to exhibit and sell their work, marketing assistance and business support.
Further support is provided by Art Central, the Council-run gallery, which provides local artists an opportunity to showcase their work.
"We are delighted to support this event, which helps showcase the thriving creative scene we boast in the Vale.
“As a Council, we are keen to support initiatives involving the arts as we appreciate what a vital role they play in the community. Innovative events like the Crafts on the Coats Festival can create long-term social and economic benefits for the Vale.”- Cllr Bob Penrose, Vale Council Cabinet Member for Learning and Culture.
The event organisers operate Crafts by the Sea, a shop in Ogmore that opened three years ago and sells work by a range of local artists.
