Travellers removed from Cliff Top car park in Penarth
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has successfully removed Travellers from Cliff Top car park in Penarth after taking legal action.
They were evicted from the area on Friday morning and briefly moved to Penarth Leisure Centre car park before also being expelled from there.
The group entered the area on Sunday and were swiftly advised by Council officers that their stay was unauthorised, unlawful and would not be tolerated.
The police were informed and assisted with the situation.
There is a strict process that must be followed when Gypsy and Traveller groups occupy land and this had to be adhered to before the group could be moved on.
Cllr John Thomas, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council said: “The occupation of Council land in this way is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“As soon as we became aware of this situation, prompt action was taken to ensure this group was removed at the earliest opportunity.”
