Vale of Glamorgan Litter Summit - Keep our Beaches Beautiful
Barry Island is a hotspot for tourists during the summer months, but sadly the recent Bank Holiday highlighted an issue very close to our hearts.
Sadly, many visitors chose to leave their rubbish on the beach. Leaving the sand and promenade strewn with dirty nappies, leftover food, wrappers and bottles.
We love to see lots of visitors coming to the resort but the litter some leave behind is simply heart-breaking.
Your concerns are our concerns, so we think the best way to solve the problem is to work together and do something about it!
This is why we are hosting a ‘Litter Summit’ later this month. Invitations will go out to local residents, traders, voluntary organisations and other like-minded people to try and tackle the litter problem at resorts during the summer months.
Our aim is to create a destination that visitors want to visit time and time again.
The session will cover:
What the Council currently does to deter littering
How the Council works to clean up waste left behind by visitors
An interactive session where everyone can share ideas on how best we can all work together to solve the problem
After the event we will publish all the ideas raised, along with a plan of how we can take these forward and the ways in which everyone else who loves our beaches can get involved too.
