Petroleum Storage

Petroleum spirit needs to be licensed to ensure those keeping and dispensing petrol do so in a safe manner that is unlikely to cause risk to the public or environment.

Application Process

An application for grant or renewal must be submitted accompanied by relevant application form and relevant fee.

 

Grant applications must also include a drawing of:

  • the layout of the dispensing premises
  • the containment system for petrol at the dispensing premises, including storage tanks and pipework
  • the drainage system for petrol at the dispensing premises

Storage of petroleum spirit and mixtures requires an electrical certificate for new installations and annual inspections of existing installations - this must be provided by an appropriately qualified and experienced electrician.

 

Tacit Consent

No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the local authority within a reasonable period, please contact us.

 

The target time period is 60 calendar days.

Visits carried out partly or entirely outside normal office hours may incur a surcharge of 50% on the standard fee or on the standard hourly rate per office per hour.
