We offer a range of computer workshops for all levels, from absolute beginners to confident users, and all our courses are accredited.

Computer Workshops

Use these workshops to learn the basics of how to use a computer, internet and email, and basic computer packages. You can progress on to Level 1 using Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Gain an Agored or ITQ accreditation (exam fees may be applicable for ITQ units).

 

Workshops are run across the Vale of Glamorgan, including venues at Barry, Cowbridge and Penarth.  New workshops start throughout the year, contact Palmerston Community Learning Centre for more information or to book your place.

 

Short Courses

Improve your ICT skills with an accredited short course that will help enhance your CV, improve your employability and help you gain valuable work skills.

  • Excel Spreadsheets
    An ideal course for the workplace. You will learn how to create an excel spreadsheet, insert text, format cells and use formulae to calculate sums. 
  • iPads

    Our programme gives you the opportunity to learn ICT and Social Media, using ipads and tablets for jobsearch, CVs and applications. Courses will include digital security and safety, protecting yourself and your family online.
  • PowerPoint and Presentation Skills 

    Ideal for interviews or workplace presentations. Learn to design a PowerPoint presentation, insert slides, text and special effects.
  •  PC Maintenance
    Useful skills for the community. Learn how to keep your PC running smoothly, clean up your desktop and ensure security settings and safety modes are in place.
  • Photography

    Learn how to take better photographs, save, edit and upload your images. Suitable for the workplace or community.
  • Desktop Publishing
    Learn how to design and produce a range of publications, newsletters, posters and flyers using a range of computer applications.
  •  ECDL Level 2 Workshop
    This course is suitable if you already have a Level 1 qualification or equivalent experience. There are 5 ECDL modules available, Word, Excel, Access, Improving Productivity and PowerPoint. You will complete a minimum of one module during a ten week course.  
  • ECDL Advanced Level 3 Workshop
    This is an advanced computer course for those who have already completed ECDL at Level 2.
