Felt Making Hats
Using wet felting techniques, make an unusual and colourful hat – perhaps inspired by Downton Abbey! You will learn how to lay down wool fleece using a resist to create three dimensional forms. Your designs can be flamboyant or simple, bright or subtle.
Are there any additional costs? All the materials will be provided and have been included in the price of this course. Please bring a couple of old towels, newspapers and a plastic bag to carry their work home. Do wear old clothes or bring an apron.
Meet the Artist Mandy Nash
I set up my workshop in 1983 after leaving the Royal College of Art and established my studio in Model House Craft and Design Centre in 1990. I work primarily in anodised aluminium producing one off and batch production jewellery. Over the last fifteen years I have also been developing work in felt, combining this with my jewellery practice, creating both functional and non functional work. My three passions are colour, pattern and technique and much of my inspiration comes from my travels around the world. I am regional co-ordinator and exhibitions officer of the International Feltmakers Association, a member of the Makers Guild in Wales, the Association of Contemporary Jewellery, MaP, a textile group and Seven:14, a mixed media group. I have exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan, USA and Canada.
