Course Description

Gift Wrapping and Bow Making

This course teaches how to gift wrap most basic shapes, boxes, bottles, jars, cylinders, clothing, small and bulky items, and a selection of options for decorating gifts.

Following demonstration of the techniques, participants will try them out, learning to cut and measure materials accurately, wrap without visible sticky tape and create different styles of bow to decorate their gifts. There will be an emphasis on producing high quality results with advice and ideas throughout the session on the use of wrapping materials and gift presentation. A variety of different bow making techniques will be taught, using different types of ribbon, as well as introducing alternative methods and materials for gift wrapping and decoration, e.g. fabric, newspaper, cellophane, paper flowers.

Upon completion, participants will be able to competently wrap most common gift shapes and have a good working knowledge of bow making and the decoration of gifts. A certificate of competence will be given.

All materials will be provided and have been included in the cost of the course. Please bring along several items to wrap: a bottle, a cylinder such as a candle or tube of sweets, a jar, a small item of clothing e.g. scarf or t-shirt.
