Dressmaking - Upcycled Clothing
During this course you will learn how to alter or change an old item of clothing to give it a new lease of life.
You will learn how to take in seams, shorten hems, finish edges, make darts, add trims, replace fastenings such as zips and buttons and how to change the shape of your garment by adding and taking away different sections.
By the end of the course, you will have gained enough skills to alter or change an item of clothing by yourself.
You are encouraged to bring basic sewing equipment eg. as scissors, needles, pins, tape measure. You will need to bring an old garment of clothing that you want to alter or change.
Meet the Tutor - Deborah Delloyd
Deborah has a BA (hons) Fashion degree, which she gained from Southampton Institute of Higher Education in 1994. She went on to become a Costume and Dress Designer and Maker and gained over 15 years of experience in TV and theatre. She has a business called Cwtch Club where she makes bespoke, hand made softies from small and big kids' drawings, to order and leads workshops.
Deborah has worked as a costume maker for many respected companies including Welsh National Opera, the BBC, the Sherman theatre and HTV. She has a teaching qualification and has used her skills to lead workshops for children and adults, teaching various sewing and craft skills.
