the Vale of Glamorgan and 'Swoosh' offers advice and
information to all young people in this area of Wales. Swoosh
provides information on a wide range of topics, services,

website allows young people and the organisations that work with
them to upload articles, pictures, videos, designs and publicise
events and activities in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Welcome to the Night Out Scheme
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Arts Development Section works
in partnership with the Arts Council of Wales to promote ‘Night
Out’ in centres across the Vale.
Operated by the Community Touring Unit of the
Arts Council of Wales, the scheme helps local organisations to
bring professional performances into community buildings at
subsidised prices so that each project ends with a performance by a
professional company in your local community centre school or other
local venue without financial risk!
So if you have :-
- always wanted to organise a professional
theatre show in your area
- wondered how the Box Office, Front
of House and Marketing happens
- would like to have a go at Stage
Management
- wanted to make all the decisions - and
do All the organising
... then this is for YOU!
‘Night Out’ Young Promoters
Project
Night Out, Young Promoters Project teaches young
people the practical skills needed to arrange a professional
theatre show in a venue in your area.
The project involves an Arts
Council, Night Out facilitator working with a teacher or
youth leader to enable a group of young people to experience the
whole process of promoting a show while
encouraging positive relationships in the local
community.
Participants discover the 'behind the scenes'
efforts that go into putting on an artistic event, including Box
Office, Front of House, Stage Management and Marketing.
The young people get to make all the decisions
- and do all the organising! Each project ends with a performance
by a professional company.
‘Night Out’
in the community has been operating throughout Wales for the
past 30 years bringing exciting professional performances to
community venues.
If you have access to a suitable hall (e.g. Village Hall /
Parish hall / Youth club / School PTA etc), you are ideally suited
to use the scheme. You don’t need to have a stage or special
lighting but the hall must be wheelchair accessible and friendly to
people with disabilities and licensed to present performances.
There are performances for every venue no matter how small or
unequipped.
Since its inception it has helped thousands of performances in
hundreds of venues, helping local community groups to host live
professional performances without incurring the normal
financial risks. As well as supporting the arts, Night Out
encourages the development of communities and local economies
through its work with volunteer groups.
Support is now being sought to expand the
Young Promoter Scheme – from individual donations to corporate
support, there are a variety of ways in which you can get
involved.
