Conservation and Management
The Coast creates unique coastal habitats such as sand
dunes, cliffs, maritime grassland, and rocky and sandy beaches.

Some examples of local coastal management
include the control of sea-buckthorn on the Merthyr Mawr sand dune
system and grassland improvement through controlled grazing at
Dunraven Park.
This management is important to sustain or
create a variety of habitats that support innumerable plants,
animals and insects.
Woodland management is also important,
creating a wide range of habitats from scrubland to mature trees.
Cutting rides (paths), for example, lets light in and allows
woodland plants to grow.
Marine and river borne litter is a serious
problem along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, and much time has been
spent organising and carrying out beach clean-ups. Shore life
appreciates this short-term solution.
