Join 'Dilys' and the Eisteddfod team in
the Vale
23 February 2012
With the National Eisteddfod fast approaching,
the festival team will be out and about in the Vale on 28 and 29
February.
Travelling with Dilys, the super shiny red
camper van, the team will whizz around the area distributing
information and chatting to the public and businesses about
what to expect at the Eisteddfod, held at the old airfield in
Llandow in August.
Festival Chief Executive, Elfed Roberts, says,
“This is the first time the National Eisteddfod has come to
the Vale for 44 years, so while some people have memories from
last time, there are two generations of local people who will
be finding out what it means to live in the host area of the
Eisteddfod for the first time this year.
“It’s important for us to make sure that we
promote the festival locally over the next few months, so we’ve
hired Dilys the camper van for a few days over the next few months,
to whisk us around the Vale to meet as many people as we can. It’s
an important time for us as we launch our concerts programme on 28
February and all tickets will be on sale from 1 March
onwards. Our latest information brochure will also be
distributed across the whole of Wales from the end of the
month.
“On Tuesday morning, 28 February, catch us in
Barry market, and then in the afternoon , we’ll be out and about in
Penarth. The following day, we’ll be in Cowbridge in the
morning and we’ll then spend the afternoon in Llantwit Major, so if
you’re in any of those towns on Tuesday or Wednesday next week,
come over and say hello.
“Thanks to everyone who’s got in touch
inviting us to take Dilys to their town or village over the next
few months. She’ll be joining us again on 26 April when we
celebrate 100 days to go and on 15 June to celebrate 50 days to go,
when we’ll be visiting as many places as we can across the Vale.
”
All slots have now been filled and details
will be posted online and this is
where you’ll also be able to buy tickets to the Maes (the site of
the Eisteddfod) and the concerts from 1 March onwards. Special
offer tickets, including the season ticket and the three days on
the Maes for the price of two scheme, are also available online
from 1 March.
The Vale of Glamorgan National Eisteddfod is
held from 4-11 August.
