Rugby
The Vale of
Glamorgan’s rugby development officer Matt Silva (pictured with
Blues stars Gethin Jenkins and Martyn Williams) works with local
schools and clubs to ensure that rugby continues to flourish in the
county.
Matt is employed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council,
Welsh Rugby Union and Cardiff
Blues, and his role includes:
- Player development
- Coach development
- School and club accreditation
- Supporting new clubs to get up and running
- Both boys, girls and adults rugby
- Encouraging rugby for people of all abilities and
disabilities
- Recruiting volunteers
- Identifying elite players
Vale schools
regularly taste success against their counterparts from
across Wales at all ages, and a number of local players have
progressed to play for the Cardiff Blues such as Rhys Williams,
John Yapp and Dafydd Hewitt.
