Meet the Vale's Exercise Referral Scheme team
When you join the scheme, you will be assigned a
highly-qualified exercise professional who will oversee your
progress.
They will be your first point of contact and will lead your
exercise classes and sessions to help you achieve your goals. You
may be assigned one of the following members of staff...
Jamie Lane
Jamie has worked in the leisure industry for nearly 15 years
since he gained his degree in Exercise Science from Brighton
University. He works from Barry Leisure Centre and
co-ordinates the scheme. Jamie is a Level 4 Instructor with
qualifications in British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitiation
Instructor and Obesity and Diabetes Instructor. Look out if he
is filling in for one of the instructors as it is sure to be

Amy Phillips
Amy has been involved in the health and fitness industry
for 14 years and has very diverse experience having been involved
in the set up of a nutrition business from scratch. Amy loves
to motivate people and has specialist qualifications as a Level 4
Postural Stability Instructor and has a personal training
award. Amy works between Cowbridge and Llantwit Major and
takes classes as well as one to one sessions. Amy can be

James Cook
James has worked in the health and fitness industry since
gaining his Sport and Exercise Science degree from Liverpool's John
Moores University. He has worked for a local trust, a private
organisation and also for local government so has a wide knowledge
of the industry. James has level 4 qualifications as a
British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation Instructor and Back
Care Instructor. He is also an Advanced Fitness Instructor
with Exercise Referral qualifications, the British
Lung Foundation Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease Instructor, Mixed Martial Arts Fitness, Studio Cycling
Instructor and Circuit Instructor. James is currently working

Martin Naughton
Martin is the newest addition to the team. Martin has been
working in the team since June 2010 and has made a big
impression. Martin 'the motivator' has already enthused
hundreds of people with his attitude to health and
fitness. Martin has a degree in Exercise Science from
Aberystwyth University and has gained Level 4 qualifications as a
Postural Stability Instructor and also as a British Association of
Cardiac Rehabilitation instructor. Martin is currently

Scott Jenkins
Having worked in the health and fitness industry
for three years, Scott has a gym background but is also a
qualified circuit training instructor and group cycling
instructor. He is an advanced fitness instructor and holds
the British Lung Foundation Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Instructor qualification. Scott is currently studying for his
British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation Instructor having
deferred last year due to running 2,000miles from Boston,
Massachusetts to Austin, Texas, for charity. He
currently works from Barry Leisure Centre and can be contacted on
