Start the year with a funding boost for your sports club
Does your club or organisation require funding to develop new
or existing sports and physical opportunities? If so, the Community
Chest scheme could provide you with a helping hand of up to £1500
of funding.
Run locally by the Vale of Glamorgan Council and agreed by a
panel of volunteers with support from Sport Wales, the Community
Chest grants scheme helps people of all ages in Wales to become
more active, more often.
The final Community Chest meeting for this financial year
in the Vale will take place in February, and sports clubs and
organisations have until 27th January to make any applications
for grant funding.
Community Chest funding can be used to start up new projects or
further develop existing projects to increase the number of people
participating in sport as well as increase the quality of
opportunities offered. The money can be used for areas such as
:
- New equipment (not replacement items to cover worn
equipment).
- Coach & volunteer education including sports specific
courses, first aid training, Child Protection in Sport
training.
- Initial coach costs for new projects - (up to a max of 20
weeks).
- Initial hall hire costs for new projects - (up to max of 20
weeks).
- Marketing.
All organisations must be able to demonstrate that they can
continue with the project once the Community Chest funding has run
out. For example, if an organisation receives 20 weeks of hall hire
to run a new cricket class, they must be able to continue with this
running this class once the initial funding has run out and will
therefore need to consider how they will be able to sustain the
funding of areas such as hall hire, coach costs etc.
If you would like to discuss a potential application please do
not hesitate to contact the Vale Council's sports and play
development manager Karen Davies on 01446 704793. If she
is not available please ask for either Ben Williams (01446
704795) or Julie Morgan (01446 704748).
