Football Fun for Girls!girl football

What's it all about?

The FAW and Welsh Football Trust recently unveiled an ambitious new strategy for girls football, and plans are already under way in the Vale of Glamorgan to make it easier for girls to take up the game and receive quality coaching

The new sessions are just the latest in a series of initiatives to further promote the sport among girls in the Vale, and more, and more are sure to follow as the new national strategy takes place.

There are currently 3,500 women and girls registered to play organised football across Wales and it is the second most popular activity for girls in Welsh schools behind dance.

The strategy has outlined an intention to help these participation figures rise by 40 per cent over the next three years and help develop a continual stream of emerging talent for the national team so that Wales can compete with the world's top talents such as the USA and the Scandinavian nations.

Football Sessions -When and Where?

Turn up and play sessions are held every Thursday starting 12th May between 5.30pmand 6.30pm at the Sully Sports and Social Club for girls of primary age.

All girls are welcome, whether they are interested in kicking a ball for the first time or are already involved with a local team.

The sessions will cost just £1 each week and will all be small-sided 5 v 5 games on small pitches, so players literally just have to turn up and enjoy playing football.

Girls of all experience and ability ranges are encouraged to come as we want to get as many girls playing football in the Vale of Glamorgan as possible.
