Newsbank logoNewsbank is an online service developed to provide national and regional news. It contains thousands of full-text articles from more than 20 Welsh and over 350 U.K. daily and weekly newspapers. Includes the North Wales edition of the Daily Post, the Western Mail, The South Wales Evening Post, The Times from 1985 forward, Economist, Financial Times, The Guardian and The Scotsman. Daily updates ensure current news, and archived articles can be used to track subjects historically. Standard keyword searches can be conducted, and the map-based interface makes it easy to compare and contrast issues and perspectives from different countries. Both English and Welsh-language versions of the interface are provided.

Newsstand is an online service developed to provide national and regional news. It has approximately 163 of the most popular British newspaper titles. Alongside many national and regional newspapers a, you will also find journals such as the Economist and New Statesman. Use Newsstand to find information on a person, place or current event, to research college assignments, find reports about schools performance, keep up to date with current business trends, read the latest book reviews, follow the latest political debates, and discover the nearest exhibitions or events in your area.

 

Times Digital Archive LogoThe Times Digital Archive lets you view scanned pages of the Times from 1785 to 1985. Please note that the library service has one concurrent subscription to the Times Digital archive. If you are unable to gain access it means someone else is using it, so please try again later. To access the Times from home you will need to enter your library card number.

 

19th Century British Library Newspapers19th Century British Library Newspapers 

offers digitised versions of national, regional and local 19th century British newspapers. It includes 48 titles, totalling approximately 2.2 million pages, which reflect the social and political developments of the time. Special attention was paid to include newspapers that helped lead particular political or social movements such as Reform, Chartism, and Home Rule. The penny papers aimed at the working and clerical classes are also present in the collection. It includes 3 Welsh Language titles Genedl, Goleuad and Banner Cymru. It also includes the Western Mail from 1st May 1869 – 31st Dec 1900. This was the period when Barry Docks was built and you can read the original reporting from the Western Mail’s campaign against it.

 

ukpressonline UKPressOnline lets you view and download searchable, as-published pages and editions of the Daily Mirror (from 1903 to the present day) and the Daily Express (from 1900 onwards). To access UKPressonline from home, you will need to enter your library card number.
