Online now acts as the access-point for Grove Music and
the Encyclopedia of Popular Music. They can be accessed and cross
searched together alongside the Oxford Companion to Music and the
Oxford Dictionary of Music.
Grove Music comprises the full text of The New
Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, The New Grove Dictionary
of Opera and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. It contains
approximately 29,000 articles on all aspects of musical culture. In
addition to full-text searching, special features include a range
of timelines, topical guides Research Resources.
The
10-volume Encyclopedia of Popular Music is already
established worldwide as the most comprehensive reference work
devoted exclusively to popular music. It covers all genres and
periods from 1900 to the present day, including jazz, country,
folk, rap, reggae, techno, musicals, world music, and more.
To access Oxford Music Online from home, click on the
link above. Then on the homepage, ignore the username /
password login and look for the link for "library card logins".
Click on this link and you will then need to enter your library
card number: type the letters "vg" followed by the numbers found
underneath the barcode on your library card.
