Thanks to the BBC genealogy series "Who Do You Think You Are?" researching your family history is more popular than ever, but it can be a lengthy and costly business. Now the Vale of Glamorgan Libraries can help. We offer free access to findmypast.co.uk, one of the leading family history and genealogy websites. It has an ever-growing collection of over 650 million family history records that includes:

  • The complete 1841-1911 census collection

  • The most complete online index of BMDs (1837-2006)
  • Parish records for baptisms, marriages and burials dating from 1538
  • An extensive military records collection, which includes records from the First and Second World Wars, military births, marriages and deaths, army roll-calls, Waterloo records, Chelsea Pensioner records and more
  • An exclusive collection of full-colour Passenger Lists for all long-haul voyages leaving the UK between 1890 and 1960
  • Overseas births, marriages and deaths indexes

All members of the Vale of Glamorgan Library Service can access it for free on our library PCs.
