Who can have an allotment?
Anyone who lives in the Vale of may apply for a maximum of
two plots on any of our Council run allotment sites. Waiting
times depend on the site, but it could be a matter of months
or even years. When you contact us about a specific site we should
be able to give you a better indication of the expected waiting
time.
What can you use the allotments for?
You can use the plot to grow vegetables or flowers and even to
keep hens (but not cockerels), and other limited livestock.
Although for livestock you must contact us to gain permission.

How big are plots?
Most cover 250 square yards. If such a large area seems rather
daunting, you can request half a plot for you to share with someone
else. (Halving the annual plot fee too)
How much does a plot cost?
On average, a plot costs about £25 a year and state pensioners
receive a 20% discount. Note that our Aberthin Road site in
Cowbridge has a different rate for historical reasons.
How do I report a problem with a plot?
As long as the plot is properly maintained and cultivated, we're
happy! However, should you suspect a plot is being poorly
maintained, or for other problems, please con
tact us.
Inspections
We try to inspect all plots once a month. If there is an ongoing
problem with the maintenance of a plot, the eviction process can
take up to three months. After which, we must then return the
plot to its former state for the next person on our waiting
list.
