Various events and activities are held at Cosmeston Lakes throughout the year; walks, talks, children’s activities to name but a few. Below you can find a list of events and activities that are scheduled for the coming months and details of some past events.

The RSPB will be at Cosmeston Lakes on the following dates

Come along and find out more about birds and the work of the RSPB

 

Become a 'Wildlife Explorer' for the day with the RSPB, learn how to become the best bird spotter around. Bird watching walks and talks will be running, parents must accompany children. A great family day out!’

Art and Craft Days 24 July and 29 October

pebble artJoin the Rangers for a morning of art and craft fun. What shall we make?

 

Egg cup insects, pebble art, elder necklace or bracelets, dreamcatchers, leaf murals or terrariums to name but a few.

Bushcraft Survival Skills 4 and 10 August

Join survival expert Marc Benson for a mornings introduction to bushcraft skills. Bushcraft has become more popular due to programmes featuring people such as Ray Mears. 

 

Bushcraft is all about surviving in our natural environment. Bushcraft skills can include; fire-making, shelter-building, foraging for food and the use of simple hand tools. These skills were essential to our ancient predecessors and are still practiced around the world today.

 

Activity time 10am - 12 noon

Price £5

Age group 7 - 11 year olds

Bat and Moth Night 1 September

Come along to a bat and moth night at Cosmeston Lakes, the evening will include a short slide show before we set off trying to locate our flying friends on a stroll around the lakes with bat detectors.

 

We will end the night at our moth trap to see how many species have been attracted to the light.

 

Time 20:00 - 22:00 approx

Price £5 per person

Owls 4 U Show 3 November

Barn owlsOwls 4 U will be at Cosmeston Lakes to give a talk about owls and their habitat, as well as explaining how some of their birds have been rescued.

 

You will get the chance to see a selection of rescued owls to include; eagle owl, little owl, tawny owl and barn owl. 

 

There will be no charge for the owl event, however, Owls 4 U will be grateful for any donations on the day. 

 

Owls Asha, Bart, Dai, Dusty, Honey, Babe and Merlin look forward to seeing you for a hoot of a day.
