Local Nature Reserves
Cwmtalwg Local Nature Reserve (ST 104 686)
The Cwmtalwg Local Nature Reserve is on the edge of Barry with
the entrance opposite the Cwm Talwg Pub on Severn Avenue.
It consists of 2.85 hectares of deciduous woods.
The land is owned by the Vale of Glamorgan Council and managed
by the Cwmtalwg Woodlands Residents Group for the benefit of locals
and wildlife.
Cliff Wood (ST 091 670)
This woodland is part of Porthkerry Country Park and has been
designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Flora
Species of flora such as the Purple Gromwell and the Wild
Service Tree have national importance. They grow alongside
other rare species enjoying the mild climate that the south-facing
cliffs offer.
