St Donats Castle

St Donats Castle stands above the Bristol Channel in the south
of the rich agricultural lands of the Vale.The castle is the
longest continually inhabited castle in Wales.
Once a year only
St Donats Castle opens its doors to the public; what a sight
beholds the visitor!
History
See antique ceilings, fireplaces, a moat, battlements, dungeons
– in short over 800 years steeped in history. The story
is rich and colourful; from Celtic Kings, ghosts wailing on stormy
nights, executed pirates, an enchanting witch called Mallt-y-Nos,
Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson. More recently the story of fantastic
riches and Hollywood romance when the castle was bought by the
American millionaire, William Randolph Hearst.
