Barry is an historic coastal town with a wide selection of
shops, restaurants and inns. Barry’s historic Town Hall, King
Square and adjoining Central Park have recently received a
multi-million pound overhaul. With
its choice of beaches, great places to shop and wide
range of parks and gardens, Barry is the perfect place
to visit or stay.
Shopping
The weekly Tuesday street market is the place for bargain
hunters. Barry has two main shopping areas at High
Street/Broad Street and Holton Road. These offer a wide variety of
shops, cafes and restaurants.

Waterfront
Barry now boasts a new Waterfront development that forms an
integral part of exciting new regeneration plans for the town. The
Waterfront is home to a new shopping area and has also become
popular for its annual Waterfront Tall Ships Festival.
Town trail and history
A wonderful way to discover more about Barry is on
foot. Barry Town Trail links the town, to the waterfront
and the Island and highlights places of interest along its 6 mile
route.
Two Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery guides provide thought-provoking
historical snapshots of Barry over many generations. Discover the
fascinating stories of the town's war heroes who were servicemen in
the First World War and merchant navy
seamen in the Second World War. The guides pay tribute to their
memory and have been produced by the 'Friends of Merthyr Dyfan
Cemetery'.
Gavin and Stacey

Barry Island has also come under the
spotlight for being featured in the British TV comedy
‘Gavin and Stacey’ which was filmed locally. Find out more.
