The largest town in the Vale of Glamorgan, Barry has a proud history and has undergone a multi-million pound overhaul in recent years to help create an even more memorable future.

 

With its choice of places to shop and wide range of parks and gardens, Barry is a great place to visit or stay, with a busy schedule of events all-year round. The town has two main shopping areas - High Street to the west and Holton Road in the town centre.

High Street is well known for shops and boutiques of individual character while Holton Road contains many popular large retailers and is particularly busy on Tuesdays when the open-air market comes to town. Both areas also boast a variety of cafes and restaurants.

In the past few years the town has undergone a number of regeneration projects. The Town Hall, King Square and Central Park received a multi-million pound overhaul, while a new Waterfront development contains shops and is popular for its annual Waterfront Tall Ships Festival, held every September.

Find Barry on a map.

Road: Situated approximately 8 miles west of Cardiff, signposted from the A4055.

Cardiff city centre approximately a 20 minute drive away.

Bus: Contact Travel Line Wales 0871 200 22 33 for local routes.

Rail: Two train stations give access to shopping areas. Barry train station is located on Broad Street and Barry Dock train station is located on Dock View Road. There is a stop at Cadoxton and at Barry Island as well.
