Cosmeston Lakes Country Park
Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, near Penarth, has
a variety of habitats covering over 100 hectares of land and water,
some 46 hectares being designated a SSSI (Site of Special
Scientific Interest).
With rare and diverse plant and animal species, Cosmeston
offers a fine introduction to the countryside and is open all
year round. The park has been designed to enable people of all
abilities to enjoy the countryside within the Vale of
Glamorgan.
Porthkerry Country Park
Porthkerry Country Park, on the western side of
Barry, lies in a fine natural valley with 200 acres of woods,
meadows and nature trails leading down to a pebble beach.
The park is noted for its imposing viaduct, built at the
end of the 19th century by the Vale of Glamorgan Railway
Company.
There are miles of tracks and paths to allow you to explore and
the 'Millennium Heritage Trail' long distance footpath wends its
way through the park.
