Building Excellence Awards
Each year the Building Control Group organise an award scheme,
which recognises good standards of building as well as
environmental, communication and disability requirements. The Vale
of Glamorgan award winners have the opportunity of being put
forward to the South Wales Region “Building Excellence” awards, and
subsequently being forwarded to the national awards which are held
in London. The Building Control surveyors who have had the
opportunity of overseeing the projects forward all award
nominations.

LABC’s Building
Excellence Awards are all about the essence of good buildings.
Our finalists are not judged on architectural beauty, but on the
"Excellence" shown from a construction and technical Building
Control point of view. Our awards showcase buildings and design
teams that have had to tussle with technical issues, difficult
sites, innovative and creative solutions.
The LABC 2012 National Building Excellence Awards will be held
at The Brewery in the City of London on 13th November. To get there
you have to go through the local and regional judging process. The
winners of each category nominated by the 12 LABC regions go
forward to the National Awards as finalists. You can’t nominate
yourself, but if you’ve completed a building project using local
authority building control during 2011, then ask your LABC surveyor
to enter your project.
Hensol Castle Resort wins the Home
Conversions category for the All Wales Awards 2011 held at the
Senedd on 14th June.
