Building Control Customer Service
The Vale of Glamorgan Council Building Control Group is
committed to give you, the customer, a first class level of service
when processing your applications for Building
Regulations consent and undertaking the site
inspection process.
The purpose of the regulations is to safeguard
the health and safety of people in or around buildings. They also
deal with energy conservation and with access for all.
Building Regulations should not be confused
with Planning Permission under the Town and Country Planning Act.
These are two totally separate consents. There are instances where
a Planning application would be required and a Building Regulation
application would not and vice-versa.
Our intention is to ensure that your building work progresses
smoothly and efficiently, whilst at the same time carrying out our
legal statutory obligations to make sure that all the work is
carried out in compliance with the Building Regulations and where
necessary, all other related legislation.
Enforcement of regulations
Any undertaking of work without building regulations consent is
unauthorised.
Site inspections are carried out and complaints/concerns from
the public investigated.
