The River Thaw Project
The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, in
partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council and the Environment
Agency Wales carried out survey work to try to identify the
remaining water vole populations along the River Thaw with an aim
to linking suitable habitats together in the area through the
creation of pond and wetland habitats.
So far, the results aren’t good – it would appear that the water
vole is extinct from the River Thaw and further work will be
needed for this endearing species to recover.
