The next steps
In the near future it’s hoped that the Wildlife Trust will
be able to work with landowners along the length of the river to
carry out control of mink through trapping and to improve the
habitat. If this is successful, then any remnant water vole
populations will have a chance to spread. Alternatively, a
reintroduction scheme may be examined.
How you can help
It is still possible that the water vole still lives along some
of the rivers or streams in the Vale of Glamorgan. If you think you
know where a population still exists or have seen some of the tell
tale signs over recent years, please visit the records
submission or email ecology@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
