Make Space for Wildlife

Do you want to protect and safeguard the future of our local wildlife?

Over the last 40 years in the Vale of Glamorgan, urban areas have expanded and other land uses have become more and more intensive. As a result, habitats such as wildflower meadows, hedgerows and ponds have been put under more and more pressure.

Make Space for Wildlife is a series of leaflets produced for schools, Community and Town Councils and members of the public to help you enhance, create and manage areas for wildlife.

Creating a local wildlife area can be as large or small scale as you want and the Make Space for Wildlife leaflets are a great place to start. Each one is jam packed with practical ideas from making wildflower meadows to building bird boxes and homes for hedgehogs.

The Council ecology team may be able to offer you help and advice. Please contact Liz Stewart, assistant ecologist by email: elstewart@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or tel: (01446) 704627.

Contact us for a set of the leaflets or download your own copies of the the Make Space for Wildlife leaflets (in PDF format).
