Below are some records that we've recently received - please do
send us some more of the interesting plants and animals you
see.
Kingfisher - Barry docks
Chris Williams, August 2007
'Flying eastwards near to the dock wall. More recently, an angle
shades moth resting on a bench!
Grey seal - from the Heritage Coast path, just east
of Nash Point
Bronwen Davies, May 2007
'It was an astonishing sight. I have seen seals in West Wales
often, and indeed off other coasts, but I have never seen one with
anything in it's mouth like that. The eel was thrashing around for
some time. Even once the eel went limp, the seal was trying to use
its flippers to help adjust it's hold on the eel, so it's head
would go under the water. It couldn't start eating it until it had
juggled the eel along a bit, to start at one end!'
Sparrowhawk - Barry
Robert Salter, March 2007
This sparrowhawk is a frequent predatory visitor to the birds on
the bird feeders in the garden. During March it actually came into
my house and became disorientated and required help in releasing it
again.
