Events at Porthkerry Country Park
Some recent events at Porthkerry have included ….

The whole of Romilly Junior School visited the Park during one
week in May and enjoyed a range of activities including beach art,
footprint trails, pond dipping and forest exploration. On the final
Friday 360 pupils and over 50 parents joined the rangers, Keep
Wales Tidy, Eco- Schools and other council officers and help remove
over 130 bags of rubbish, several tyres, a bath tub and six odd
shoes! from the beach.
Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Bat group recently
helped the rangers at Porthekrry check 50 bat boxes throughout the
park. Several of the boxes were being used by blue tits with two
boxes having 10 chicks between them! The photo shows the commonest
bat recorded in the boxes, a pipistrelle.

The new orienteering route had its first test in April, with
over 50 members of the South Wales Orienteering Club exploring the
park on a lovely sunny sunday morning.
The park has facilities for schools - you could try pond
dipping or hunting for minibeasts or the new orienteering
course.
