Rights of Way Improvement Plan - ROWIP
The Draft Phase Consultation Document
It is a statutory duty for all local highway authorities to
prepare a Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP) within five years
of the relevant sections of the CROW Act coming into force. The
Vale of Glamorgan Council produced an outline and timetable at the
end of 2003. This estimated that completion of the assessment phase
of this process would take three years and a report of the
conclusions was produced at the end of 2005. This went out to
public consultation early in 2006, following which a draft
improvement plan has now been produced for further
consultation.
Improving Countryside Access in the Vale
We have produced our draft Rights of Way Improvement Plan which
is entitled "Improving Countryside Access in the Vale". It outlines
the strategies that will form the basis for management of the Vale
of Glamorgan’s rights of way network for the next 10 years,
allowing us to prioritise work and focus our resources. This will
become a statutory document in its final form before the end of
2007.
This document is based upon information gathered over a 2 year
period, from consultations with interested groups, land owners,
local people, and visitors to the area. The document has been
produced with the support and guidance of the Countryside Council
for Wales and Welsh Assembly Government, available below.
